Abstract

Introduction. Тuberculosis remains one of the most prevalent infections globally and is a socially significant disease. The lungs are usually the primary source of the central nervous system (CNS) tuberculosis.

Objective. To show the central nervous system tuberculosis imaging features.

Results. Imaging plays an important role in early diagnostics of the central nervous system diagnostics and may increase the efficacy of treatment and decrease mortality. Brain MRI helps in diagnostics, assessment of complications and monitoring of clinical course. This article is a review of typical and atypical imaging manifestations of intracranial tuberculosis.

Conclusion. МR-manifestations of neurotuberculosis may resemble other infectious pathological processes. MRI with IV contrast allows to raise the accuracy of differential diagnostics and detect pathological process at an early stage. Diagnosing and verification of brain lesions in patients with neurotuberculosis requires comparison of the clinical picture, labs, imaging data and, if possible, morphological data.
