Abstract
The results of a multicenter study conducted in Russia in2008-2014 are presented. The study had identified high TB risk groups among children and adolescents and developed TB screening methods in children’s population. The study was conducted on the territory of Russia in four stages. At the first stage new methods of examination and selection children and adolescents for preventive chemotherapy in tuberculosis dispensaries were developed. Tuberculosis Recombinant allergen skin test (Diaskintest®) was recommended TB screening and risk groups’ monitoring basing on the results of this research (The Order of Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation N 855,2009.). The next phases were to develop new approaches to screening of children and adolescents for tuberculosis in a general health care network using Diaskintest® every child subjected to primary BCG-M vaccination in maternity, of 1-7 years old, were examined annually by with Mantoux 2 TE test. If M. tuberculosis infection is not detected, BCG-M revaccination is done. Starting from the age of 8 years all children and adolescents were subjected to immunodiagnosis using Diaskintest® annually. The use of Diaskintest in a general health care network allowsto form TB high risk groups and to identify patients at an early stage of the disease (The Order of Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation № 951).Keywords: Diaskintest®; Mantoux test; children; diagnosis; tuberculosis.
