Abstract
The article considers the peculiarities of the medical and psychological status of tobacco dependence in men and women with a high degree of nicotine dependence. 148 smoking patients with a high degree of nicotine dependence aged from 25 to 74 years (68 women and 80 men) were examined. Exclusion criteria: mental illness and disorders, alcohol, drug dependence. It was found that men, on average, started smoking three years earlier than women and they smoked significantly more cigarettes per day; had a lower motivation to quit smoking than women. Smoking men and women with a high degree of nicotine dependence had significantly reduced the level of personal adaptive capacity; they had not a high level of indicators of behavioral regulation and personal adaptive capacity. It is necessary to include the inclusion of psychotherapeutic and psychological measures in the provision of assistance in quitting smoking with a high degree of nicotine dependence to all persons regardless of gender differences, both during active treatment and during rehabilitation to prevent relapse of tobacco smoking.
