Abstract
The paper analyzes the influence of anti-tobacco outreach on the appeal to the «hot line» for medical assistance in smoking cessation during 2012-2016 years. In total, over 120 thousand citizens from all regions of the Russian Federation addressed the Russian Quitlines (CTC) in this period. For 2012-2016 years the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation held several large-scale campaigns to promote healthy lifestyles and, in particular, to tobacco quitting. There are: the All-Russian action to quit smoking, broadcast by radio and television, and publication in newspapers and magazines. TV social advertising with the translation of the telephone number of the «hotline» to help in refusing to tobacco use significantly increases the number of calls and the number of people who refused to smoke. During the intensive social advertising period, the number of appeals increased to19515 citizens. With a decrease in the intensity of social advertising on central television channels, the number of incoming calls dropped from 901-1349 to 523-742. Placing a hotline phone number to provide free advisory telephone assistance in smoking cessation on cigarettes packets is an effective measure to reduce the prevalence of smoking among smokers.
