Abstract

The article is devoted to the results of the work of the intensive care unit of the specialized hospital in St. Petersburg during the influenza epidemic in 2016. During this period, 732 patients were diagnosed with the flu. Among the patients with confirmed influenza diagnosis, A (H1N1) virus was typed in 90% of patients - A (H3N2) in 2% of cases, 5% had A (H1N1) and A (H3N2) combination and 2% - influenza B. To the intensive care unit were admitted 10% of all admissions to the hospital with a complicated course of influenza. The mortality among patients with complicated course of influenza was 36%. Pneumonia, which was diagnosed in all death cases, in 85% of cases was complicated by acute respiratory distress syndrome. 61% of patients had pneumonia combined with hemorrhagic syndrome, 11% with meningoencephalitis and 4% with myocarditis. There were no significant differences in the values of laboratory parameters (pH and acid-base balance of blood, blood gas composition, clinical blood analysis, etc.) in the groups of survivors and deceased patients.
